Looking for Headphones for Dad

My dad picked up jogging in 2005 to improve his health. He has always been doing it without listening to music. He finally got himself an ipod last week, so that he can track how far he runs as well. I was thinking to buy him a pair of good headphones for his 50th birthday. Can you tell me about the best headphones for running and where I should get them? I am looking for a long lasting pair that will make my dad happy. This is my way of telling him I love and appreciate him as his daughter. Fingers crossed he’ll be pleased! His current headphones are lousy ones.
