In my search for the perfect cigar, I have often been unhappy with the banning of Cuban cigars in the United States. Yet, I may now have found the perfect alternative. Cuban exiles in the Dominican Republic have been producing a version of the world famous Montecristo cigars. Rumor has it that the exiles transplanted Cuban tobacco to grow in the soil of the Dominican Republic. It is believed that the Dominicans mix tobacco from Cuba with other tobacco blends to imitate the flavor of Cuban cigars. I, for one, am satisfied with the Dominican Montecristo cigars. Americans, such as myself, are thrilled to have an alternative to illegal Cuban cigars.
