It’s important to make sure the pet store you buy your supplies and turtles from is reputable. Purchasing from illegal pet sources or dirty pet stores could leave consequences for both you and your pet turtles. Firstly, the health of the turtle is very important. Check the shell and scales of the turtle and ask for any background history for that exact animal and what they know about the species. Some turtles may be more prone to certain diseases than others and need to be cared for differently. It is also important to make sure the place and/or person you buy your new pets from has the proper credentials and licensing to be selling what they are selling. If not, this could leave legal implications on the buyer if he or she was aware they were purchasing from an unauthorized source. Examples of unauthorized sources are pet stores where the license or health inspection certificates have expired. Those certificates should be on display anywhere you purchase a new pet.
